Dawn over Winter Harbor, Maine

Welcome to Letters From Maine. It is so beautiful here and I would like to share a little of what life is like here in Maine. Those fortunate enough to live here, those who have been fallen in love with Maine after visiting and those who would love to spend time here, this is for you.

Fall colors

What a glorious fall we are having here in Maine!!!!! The trees are starting to display vivid reds and the weather is clear and sunny.

After a rather poor start to the summer, the weather has been improving. So far we have avoided a frost and so the flowers and vegetables are still thriving.

This is really my favorite time of the year!

Warren Island

A couple of weeks ago the wind was fair for sailing north over the weekend and Dolphin Dancer sailed to the Maine State Park of Warren Island for Saturday night. This is a glorious spot with islands all around and gentle woodland and shoreland trails on Warren Island itself. The wind howled overnight but we had a great sail back down on Sunday. Maine magic.

Schooner

Last weekend we had a heatwave with temperatures near 80, lovely!!!! Taking advantage of this we sailed across to Pulpit Harbor on North Haven. We have discovered that we can fit 2 kayaks on deck! Fine in calm weather and this opens up a whole new world from our cruising destinations. The schooner Grace Bailey drifted in as the sun was setting and I paddled gently in my kayak.

We took three cats with us as they love being on the boat with us. This is KT. While he loves being on the boat, (he lets us know every 20 minutes through the night) he also loves to ride in the car and shop at Reny's!KT

Solomon

Solomon on the other hand dislikes the car, loves hiking and kayaking and adores being on the boat (as long as it is not rough as he gets seasick!)

As it is so beautiful today, it will be time to head out in the kayak again shortly!
