MAORI BONE AND JADE CARVINGS

We are delighted to be able to offer you this new line of beautiful jewelry.

These hand carved bone and jade pieces are from highly respected Maori carvers in New Zealand. The Maori people came to New Zealand about 1000 years before it was "discovered" by the white man. They were a warlike seafaring people who originated in the Pacific Islands. Carvings were inspired by the world around them and were valued as sacred objects. These three dimensional carvings are strung on a waxed braid with a loop and bone toggle. This is traditional, but these finely sculpted carvings may also be worn on a gold or silver chain.
